Coastal and marine ecosystems are some of our most valuable natural habitats. They provide food and livelihoods for communities throughout the Asia Pacific region, while also providing the ecosystem services upon which life depends.
MRAG Asia Pacific has considerable experience in examining human impacts on aquatic environments, focusing largely on the impacts of fishing and related processes. Assessments have examined the impacts of fishing on endangered and protected species, the contribution of fisheries to marine plastics pollution and the impacts of onshore fish processing on the surrounding environment. An important focus of each project has been working with those involved to develop practical measures to mitigate impacts.
Our services include:
- Assessments of fisheries impacts on aquatic environments and the development of best practical mitigation techniques;
- Contributions to environmental impact assessments; and
- Marine plastics pollution assessments.
