MRAG Asia Pacific was commissioned to develop of a Code of Best Practice for coastal net fishing in the Gladstone region of Queensland, Australia.  The main aim of the Code is to minimise harmful interactions between net fishing for inshore species and megafauna listed under the Australian Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (principally turtles, dugongs and inshore dolphins).  The project team has worked with local net fishers as well as Government regulators and technical experts to develop the voluntary Code.
